2016 finish-along, third quarter finishes

Whew, I did it! When I set my goals for the third quarter I didn't even begin to imagine I'd finish them all, BUT I DID! Yay! Here are links to my finishes.....

My Small World is done! I'm really proud of this one. It was a major project & I enjoyed it so much.

My swap for the Triad meets Mckinney swap is done, delivered & appreciated! This was so much fun to do.

Ally's pillows are happily hanging out on her couch, or wherever college kids keep pillows! ha!

My girls have matching San Francisco Swing Dresses and they both love them.

The Pow Wow quilt has been delivered to a sweet new baby boy in Ohio and he is enjoying it very much.

So there you have it. Third quarter was a huge success for me! I'm linking up over at A Quilter's Table.

pillows

Another finish for my third quarter finish-along goals!Six pillows for Ally's apartment done and happily hanging out on her couch.
Fabrics are all black/white/gold cotton prints from Hobby Lobby (with added kona black in the patchwork pillow). Two 18" pillows, one 16", one 14" and two 12"x16" rectangles. They look so good in her happy new home!

Just one more finish to go for this quarter for me.... and it's a doozy! I've been cranking away on My Small World quilt & hope to have the topper done very soon.... whew!

third quarter finish-along goals

Participating in the finish-along has been a huge help to me this year! I managed to complete all of my goals in the first and second quarter and am inspired to do it again this quarter. Here are the projects I WILL get done....

First up, this swap quilt needs to be quilted, labelled & bound before our August guild meeting, so it can be sent to my partner in the Triad meets McKinney swap. Sorry I can't reveal the colors just yet, but I'm so happy with the way it came out & I'm a tiny bit afraid to start quilting. But I shall, no worries....
This pile of lovelies is really two projects..... a PowWow baby quilt for a friend and a stack of pillows for Ally's new apartment. Both are decorating in black/white/gold which came in handy at fabric buying time....

This rather boring looking yardage of gray knit is destined to become two very cute dresses for my girls. Yes, they are getting matching dresses (I think the last time that happened they were six & infant & the dresses had bunnies on them!) Anyways, I can't share the pattern with you just yet as I have been pattern testing and it is yet to be released. Soon. Very soon.
And finally, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I WILL finish My Small World quilt top this quarter, come heck or high water! I started it with a gusto in January and have worked on it in fits & starts ever since. I love it and it needs to be finished. So there. I said it and now you can hold me to it!
So four, really five finishes for the third quarter. I think I can, I think I can...

return to my small world

At the beginning of the year, I jumped head first into My Small World quilt along 2. I quickly completed the first 2 sections. On retreat, I finished up the rest of the sky sections. And then..... nothing. Finally, I've gotten back to work! Section three is finished...
My favorite thing is the rainstorm I added (see it up top?). Section four is well underway & should be finished soon. Meanwhile, here are the first three sections laying together...
I am so in love with this quilt! Seeing so many finished ones on Instagram has lit a fire under me. I really want to get this done soon. Back to work!

My Small World section two

In case you were worried that I had replaced my passion for sewing and quilting with a love for weaving, I wanted to prove otherwise! I've been working on My Small World quilt some more, and just finished up section two...
My favorite thing about making this quilt is riffing through my stash and finding fun fabrics to fussy cut for each section. Like the guitar playing horse inside the yellow house....
Little Red Riding hood made her appearance in this section too. And a double decker bus in London, to remind me of the trip Hubby and I took there for our 25th anniversary in 2012.
I'm waiting to sew all of the finished sections together, but I couldn't resist laying sections one and two side by side for a photo shoot....
The riot of color makes me so happy! What have you been working on?

My Small World

Last summer, when everyone was making My Small World quilts (by Jen Kingwell) I searched high and low for the magazine with the pattern in it. No luck. When Jen released the pattern separately in the fall I jumped on it and bought one right away! Shortly after, Nicole  (aka @Saphre1964 on Instagram) announced that she would be leading a quilt along in the new year, and I jumped right on board!

Yesterday I finished up section one of My Small World....
I am having a BLAST making this quilt! Digging through my stash & adding fussy cut bits & bobs here & there has been so much fun. Here are some close ups of parts of section one....
a ballet studio in honor of my girls! A baker with a gluten free birthday cake in honor of my upcoming birthday, Goldilocks & Mama bear on the top floor of the Happiness Hotel and festive bunting in the window.

And this colorful party on the bottom....
I love the puppy parking his fancy car in the garage. Oh and look closely in that little red house.....
It's the big bad wolf! I pointed a big arrow right at him so he can't hide and cause trouble.

I can't wait to continue on this fun journey and plan to share more with you along the way. Check out the hashtag #mysmallworldqal2 on instagram for more happy inspiration.
