Even though Mom (needlework), MeMa (painting), and PaPa (trash-to-treasure king) had projects for me at an early age it was the babysitter that actually got me started! I was staying the weekend with her. We went to T.G. &Y (dimestore) and I got to pick out a skein of yarn (turquiose blue) and a crochet hook. She taught me to chain first and I made some hair ties. Then, the wonderful world of granny squares! I had a shoebox full by the time mom picked me up on Sunday!
My Dad and his mother were pretty crafty as well. My last 'learn from family' craft experience was with my dad - he taught me the basics of working with stained glass. It's a week that I will never forget!

My EX-boyfriend (eek!) 5 years ago when he bought me a cricut for my birthday. Who knew scrapbooking would lead to baking/cookie decorating and now quilting! Thanks for the chance!

how wonderful, I love autographs. My mom started me early on with crafts. Everything she could think of. And if she didn't know one we would learn together. This went on until she got cancer. Then we just had fun with what we had done in the past.

Hmm... that's a tough one. No one in my family is really crafty. My dad is really good with his hands (he built our barn) but no one really sewed!
I spent a lot of time by myself as a kid, and discovered on my own that I loved crafting. So... I guess I inspired myself? (That sounds weird.) No one else in my family is particularly crafty.

My grandmother showed me that there is nothing I cannot create. She shared her fabric scraps, her knowledge, and her determination with me.
I have always loved to sew and craft. Finally took sewing lessons in high school and loved being able to make just what I wanted and not have the same dress as everyone else!

My gram introduced me to quilting when I was really young. My mum helped me make doll clothes while I was in grade school. A friend during high school tried really hard to teach me how to knit properly. I guess I owe it to a lot of people. :)

My junior high home ec teacher got me started on all kinds of crafting.
My mother knitted and sewed, but she wasn't very creative. It was my grandmother who passed on the creative gene to me. I've passed it on to at least one of my daughters, and a few of my granddaughters.

My Grandfather was an art teacher and we always had our own crafting counter growing up and our creativeness was always encouraged. My Grandmother was the one who taught me to sew, she is an amazing seamstress who still sews on her single stitch machine and it's incredible!

I'm pretty much self taught really...tho now have my two daughters to learn with..we are learning quilting together (sooo fun!!)....and I have a BFF that I have learned to knit from, and we crochet together.

Oddly enough my daughter inspired me. I guess when I was nesting while pregnant with her she was nudging me to create things for her. Little dresses, quilts, diaper bags...urges I have never had before haha

I started sewing when I was 5 or 6. I'm not sure who inspired me but I guess it must have been my mother. She had a sewing machine but didn't sew very often.
I started on my sewing journey during my first pregnancy. I wanted to be able to sew sew things for him. Since then I have learned A LOT! I have enjoyed sewing quilts, toys, etc. for each of my kids... as well as many other things for myself and as gifts.
My kids. I would have never pegged myself as crafty at all until they came along and I started crafting with them. Now, I craft without them.
I'm not sure how I got to love all things arty and crafty. It just seems to be what I do. I do remember greatly admiring my grand mother's knitting. She knitted for all the family and was so skillful and perfectly neat. Wonderful.
My Mum first taught me to sew, I made clothes for my doll. since then my God mother (who made my wedding dress) and my sister-in-law (who makes bouncy castles) both inspire and encourage me. and they tell me where I went wrong too!

My mother inspired me to be a crafter. Even in the 60s we were making Christmas Trees out of Styrofoam balls and toothpicks, dolloped with fake snow. Good memories.

I'm not really sure who got me started crafting. My grandmother knits and my other grandmother has a sewing machine that she rarely uses, and that's about it for crafters in my family. I think my mom takes the "blame" because she never ironed on my AWANA patches when I was little, so I got fed up waiting and taught myself how to sew them on :).
Of course it was my mother who got me crafting and sewing. She was the art teacher's aide at my elementary school and we were always collecting egg crates and pipe cleaners for some project. Thanks for the giveaway!
My mum was an excellent seamstress....she worked for Bernina and gave sewing lessons. I was never interested in sewing clothes but always fancied making a quilt and 15 years ago I took the plunge into quiltmaking. It thrills me that my mum is so proud of the quilts that I have made.

It was probably my Mom. She would let me stitch together some awful looking things! She taught me to use the sewing machine, and found a crochet hook for me when the 4-H leader taught us to crochet. My Grandmas were also a bit of an inspiration even though they never taught me anything. I saw the things they made and wanted to do the same. I wish I could have learned from them!

I would say my parents they are both artistic and creative even though they don't do that for a living. They have, and instilled in us, a love of art and creation.
My mother and both my grandma's between taught me how to cross stitch, knit and some basic sewing. It was my auntie that taught me how to quilt and rekindled my passion.

My dad was my first inspiration. He's an architect and was always bringing home carpet samples, tile samples, paint chips, etc that we were allowed to cut up, break, glue and create with. :D
Autographs are always awesome :) I don't know that anyone person inspired me... I was always just fascinated that people could make things, all sorts of things, with their hands... woodworking, pottery, quilting, all of it!

I'm not really sure.. we use to do a lot of pen house crafts at school and and I use to love sewing for my barbies..but I can't relaly reacall anyone setting me down and doing crafts with me.

My aunt taught me to sew and to this day still supports me and helps me with my sewing projects.
She is a huge supporter of my crafting.
I think that my mom definitely gave me her love of crafting. With 4 children, I'm not sure she had a ton of time for much, but when I was young, she sewed me a lot of clothes. I remember in 5th or 6th grade, she sewed me this dress from a plaid fabric and she got the plaids to match up, too! Oh, and she could draw, too… One time, there were these home parties going around and you would buy these paints of some sort, to paint on clothes. She made me the best sweatshirt with this swan swimming on a lake painted on the front :)
We still like to craft together when we can.

Probably a toss up between my mom and my gramma. My dad also taught me the value of doing things for yourself (but that was more along the lines of fixing the toilet or making a shelf) - but I think that gets to the heart of crafting.
I guess my friends instilled my love of crafting. Evn as little girls, we were always creating something.

I am a crafter since I was in the kindergarden - always loved to craft, never stopped, too. But of course I had different phases - window color phase, paper craft phase ... now i am totally into sewing. My mum sewed a lot for me as a baby and i totally would love to do this for my kids, when i have some. So i now learn to sew and then i can start making cloths as soon as i have kids :)

Um..Me..I have some crazy rare gene, okay not really but I was adopted, but my biological grandmother was very crafty.
i got into sewing via a friend who encouraged me to make a baby quilt when i got pregnant with my daughter. i worked on a bit while i was pregnant but didn't really catch the bug until my baby was six months old. that's when i finally finished the quilt & was like, "hold on...sewing is awesome!" & i haven't stopped since!
