Eeeek - an autograph would be perfect!!! My mom and dad got me crafting - mom knit and sewed and dad was a woodworker. Nana crosstitched, Granny did crochet, auntie did LOTS and LOTS of macrame (it was the 70's afterall) but I am the only quilter in the family!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower through GFC. Happy giveaway day - fab giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great book! I participate in a lot of blog hops as an author and am always looking for new ideas to add to my book giveaways. My Brownie Troop installed the first love of crafting in me--and it was led by my Mom!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being included in a book! Your blog is delightful. My Home Ec teacher inspired me to learn knitting and sewing. Thanks for the fun!
ReplyDeleteEven though Mom (needlework), MeMa (painting), and PaPa (trash-to-treasure king) had projects for me at an early age it was the babysitter that actually got me started! I was staying the weekend with her. We went to T.G. &Y (dimestore) and I got to pick out a skein of yarn (turquiose blue) and a crochet hook. She taught me to chain first and I made some hair ties. Then, the wonderful world of granny squares! I had a shoebox full by the time mom picked me up on Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad and his mother were pretty crafty as well. My last 'learn from family' craft experience was with my dad - he taught me the basics of working with stained glass. It's a week that I will never forget!
ReplyDeleteHad to be my mom who got me hooked on crafting/sewing. Thanks for the fun giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy EX-boyfriend (eek!) 5 years ago when he bought me a cricut for my birthday. Who knew scrapbooking would lead to baking/cookie decorating and now quilting! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI am also a follower of your blog!
ReplyDeletehow wonderful, I love autographs. My mom started me early on with crafts. Everything she could think of. And if she didn't know one we would learn together. This went on until she got cancer. Then we just had fun with what we had done in the past.

My mom taught me to sew and instilled a love of handmade things in me.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what got me started crafting. I am the only one in my family who really does and I have always felt the need to. I use to head to Joann Fabrics with my allowance to buy embroidery thread!
ReplyDeleteIt was my granny. My earliest crafting memory is sewing a pillow with her :)

How exciting to be published! I would enjoy an autographed copy of this book. My Aunt was the first to inspire me to do crafts. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI follow with RSS Feeds. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it would have to be my great grandmother. She taught me to crochet, embroider, quilt and do the plastic canvas stuff. She was a really unique lady.
ReplyDeletejust in case: m3reyna at gmail dot com
Hmm... that's a tough one. No one in my family is really crafty. My dad is really good with his hands (he built our barn) but no one really sewed!
ReplyDeleteI spent a lot of time by myself as a kid, and discovered on my own that I loved crafting. So... I guess I inspired myself? (That sounds weird.) No one else in my family is particularly crafty.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower of your blog (via Feedly).
ReplyDeleteMy mom was the one that started me crafting. She started with sewing and then taught me all her crafts and I picked some up of my own. My grand mother taught me crochet. Best thing that ever happened to me was to become a hand crafter!

ReplyDeleteMy grandmother showed me that there is nothing I cannot create. She shared her fabric scraps, her knowledge, and her determination with me.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved to sew and craft. Finally took sewing lessons in high school and loved being able to make just what I wanted and not have the same dress as everyone else!

ReplyDeletewell I am not sure. As far as quilting goes my grandparents for sure. I always thought it was so cool that him and her both quilted together!

ReplyDeleteI would have to say I learned to like crafting when I was in school! My teachers always had some little thing for us to make. Thank you to the teachers!
ReplyDeleteMy gram introduced me to quilting when I was really young. My mum helped me make doll clothes while I was in grade school. A friend during high school tried really hard to teach me how to knit properly. I guess I owe it to a lot of people. :)

I get really mixed up on how to follow with bloglovin (I try, but when I can't find the button I'm lost, or maybe just blind) but I think I figured out how to do it with Google and get email updates.

Congrats on being published! I think my mum started me crafting as she was always sewing or doing tapestry when I was young,.
ReplyDeleteMy aunt got me started sewing as a kid and I've been sewing ever since (but especially in the last 3 years).
ReplyDeleteI've always liked arts and crafts, though my mom made me a ladybug costume for Halloween. I have made so many costumes for myself since!
ReplyDeleteelizabeth.waligora (at) gmail.com
I think my Home Ec teacher instilled my love of crafting. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy mother put crafting into my heart. She used to make all of my dresses when I was little and I loved every one of them!
ReplyDeleteamy.forkner at gmail dot com
One of my students mom gave me private quilting lessons
ReplyDeleteMy junior high home ec teacher got me started on all kinds of crafting.
ReplyDeleteMy mother knitted and sewed, but she wasn't very creative. It was my grandmother who passed on the creative gene to me. I've passed it on to at least one of my daughters, and a few of my granddaughters.
ReplyDeleteMust have been my mother because I don't remember a time when I didn't like to sew or do handwork. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy mother was the one that got me into sewing and my mother in law got me into crocheting.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it was my mom who got me started. She always sewed and encouraged us to learn how to knit and embroider.
ReplyDeletemy mother many years ago, thanks

ReplyDeleteMy mom!
ReplyDeleteMy mom, I'd say. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteMy mum taught me at least the basics of almost everything crafty I do!
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law refused to continue hemming my fiance's pants, so we had to get a sewing machine. And the rest was history... LOL. My mom & grandma are sewers, but more so since I have been crafting than prior
ReplyDeleteMy Grandfather was an art teacher and we always had our own crafting counter growing up and our creativeness was always encouraged. My Grandmother was the one who taught me to sew, she is an amazing seamstress who still sews on her single stitch machine and it's incredible!
ReplyDeleteMy mother taught my embroidery to keep my fingers occupied.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much self taught really...tho now have my two daughters to learn with..we are learning quilting together (sooo fun!!)....and I have a BFF that I have learned to knit from, and we crochet together.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you on Pinterest now too :)
ReplyDeleteI would be honored to have your autograph in the book...how exciting!!!
Oddly enough my daughter inspired me. I guess when I was nesting while pregnant with her she was nudging me to create things for her. Little dresses, quilts, diaper bags...urges I have never had before haha
ReplyDeleteI follow you...it always feels funny to type that and I giggle a little each time
ReplyDeleteMy Grandma taking along to the WI I learned a lot and I miss Her

I grew up watching my mom and aunt crafting. Now my mom only crochets.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom and both Grandma's were always making something, and I picked up the habit.

ReplyDeleteI started sewing when I was 5 or 6. I'm not sure who inspired me but I guess it must have been my mother. She had a sewing machine but didn't sew very often.
ReplyDeleteI started on my sewing journey during my first pregnancy. I wanted to be able to sew sew things for him. Since then I have learned A LOT! I have enjoyed sewing quilts, toys, etc. for each of my kids... as well as many other things for myself and as gifts.
ReplyDeleteMy kids. I would have never pegged myself as crafty at all until they came along and I started crafting with them. Now, I craft without them.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I got to love all things arty and crafty. It just seems to be what I do. I do remember greatly admiring my grand mother's knitting. She knitted for all the family and was so skillful and perfectly neat. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteMy Mum first taught me to sew, I made clothes for my doll. since then my God mother (who made my wedding dress) and my sister-in-law (who makes bouncy castles) both inspire and encourage me. and they tell me where I went wrong too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway! My mom painted and did some sewing and my great grandmothers lived with us and she was a quilter! They both were an inspiration to me. thank you!
ReplyDeleteA neighbout did. We use to go over and she taught us how to sew
ReplyDeleteI caught the quilting bug from Sarah at Fairyface Designs
ReplyDeleteMy Mom was a crafter - she always had some project going. She taught me how to sew many, many years ago. I used to make most of my clothes, but now I just sew quilts. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm a GFC follower. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteI just loved making stuff at nursery school :)
ReplyDeleteMy mother inspired me to be a crafter. Even in the 60s we were making Christmas Trees out of Styrofoam balls and toothpicks, dolloped with fake snow. Good memories.

I'm not really sure who got me started crafting. My grandmother knits and my other grandmother has a sewing machine that she rarely uses, and that's about it for crafters in my family. I think my mom takes the "blame" because she never ironed on my AWANA patches when I was little, so I got fed up waiting and taught myself how to sew them on :).
ReplyDeleteOf course it was my mother who got me crafting and sewing. She was the art teacher's aide at my elementary school and we were always collecting egg crates and pipe cleaners for some project. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy mum was an excellent seamstress....she worked for Bernina and gave sewing lessons. I was never interested in sewing clothes but always fancied making a quilt and 15 years ago I took the plunge into quiltmaking. It thrills me that my mum is so proud of the quilts that I have made.

Thank you for being a part of the Sew Mama Sew giveaway and giving me the chance to become a winner of this fantastic book.

It was probably my Mom. She would let me stitch together some awful looking things! She taught me to use the sewing machine, and found a crochet hook for me when the 4-H leader taught us to crochet. My Grandmas were also a bit of an inspiration even though they never taught me anything. I saw the things they made and wanted to do the same. I wish I could have learned from them!

ReplyDeleteHi I got the crafty bug when I was in Jr. High. From the libaray, where I spent alot of time after school after my mother passed away til my dad got home from work.
ReplyDeleteAutograph would be great. I can't really say who instilled crafting in me. I do know it's in my blood now. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it was in my blood. I have been creating for as long as I can remember. When I was four I hand sewed my brother a quilt from my mom's rag bin - including the furry toilet seat cover! Thanks for the chance to wiN!

Who wouldn't want an autograph!? I come from a long line of crafty women -- so I was started off equally by my mom, grandmother, AND great-grandmother!
ReplyDeleteNow following through bloglovin!
ReplyDeleteOh, please mess the book up with your autograph, it's so much more personal. I learned to knit and sew from my mom when still in elementary school and have been crafty ever since. Thanks for the chance!

ReplyDeleteMy mother, the master sewist!
ReplyDeleteGot it from my mother. She's always working on some project or other.
ReplyDeleteI would say my parents they are both artistic and creative even though they don't do that for a living. They have, and instilled in us, a love of art and creation.
ReplyDeleteMy mother and both my grandma's between taught me how to cross stitch, knit and some basic sewing. It was my auntie that taught me how to quilt and rekindled my passion.

ReplyDeleteI follow you on Bloglovin'! And that last comment was supposed to say "older sister"! :D
ReplyDeleteMy dad was my first inspiration. He's an architect and was always bringing home carpet samples, tile samples, paint chips, etc that we were allowed to cut up, break, glue and create with. :D
ReplyDeleteAutographs are always awesome :) I don't know that anyone person inspired me... I was always just fascinated that people could make things, all sorts of things, with their hands... woodworking, pottery, quilting, all of it!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway. My mother started me with crafts to keep me out of her hair when I was little. Thanks so much for sharing
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother helped to put crafting in me but I didn't try until the last few months and she died several years ago. I'm really loving quilting and wish I started years ago! Thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteA friend of my mother's gave me a crewel work kit when I was sick one summer and I have been sewing or embroidering ever since.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom got me interested in crafting.
ReplyDeleteNo one really got me into crafting.. although I did like to build things with my dad. I suppose crafting is a smaller, softer version of that. :)
ReplyDeleteFrom a very young age my mother and grandmother taught me to sew. At age 5 we had sewing lessons at school. I love sewing, embroidery, quilting all needlework.

ReplyDeleteI would say that my mom has always encouraged us to be creative-- she was so creative herself!

ReplyDeleteI subscribe on Feedly
ReplyDeleteMy aunt taught me to sew and to this day still supports me and helps me with my sewing projects.
ReplyDeleteShe is a huge supporter of my crafting.
I think that my mom definitely gave me her love of crafting. With 4 children, I'm not sure she had a ton of time for much, but when I was young, she sewed me a lot of clothes. I remember in 5th or 6th grade, she sewed me this dress from a plaid fabric and she got the plaids to match up, too! Oh, and she could draw, too… One time, there were these home parties going around and you would buy these paints of some sort, to paint on clothes. She made me the best sweatshirt with this swan swimming on a lake painted on the front :)
ReplyDeleteWe still like to craft together when we can.
My mum is my creative inspiration and her mum was hers. So glad both Mum and Grandma had the creative bug and passed it on. I would love you to Autograph the book if I win.
ReplyDeleteI know that I was just born with a crafting gene. Honestly no one else in my family loves to craft like I do. Even extending out to cousins and aunts and on both sides! It's really quite odd!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember not crafting. Sign away!
ReplyDeleteIt was my gran that was always knitting, sewing and doing crochet. I wish she was here now to see me sewing. x

ReplyDeleteProbably a toss up between my mom and my gramma. My dad also taught me the value of doing things for yourself (but that was more along the lines of fixing the toilet or making a shelf) - but I think that gets to the heart of crafting.
ReplyDeleteI guess my friends instilled my love of crafting. Evn as little girls, we were always creating something.
ReplyDeleteMy intro to sewing came about because I love the designs of the Post WWII Japanese imports from the fifties and sixties. I started collecting them and repairing them and then decided to learn to use them. Thanks for participating (and I always get autographs)! notwendy at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI got my love of crafting from my mom, and now I'm passing it on to my daughter! Thanks for the chance to win--looks like a fun book, and congrats on being in it!
ReplyDeleteMy Grandma most definitely did. She would take the time to plan projects for us to do together. It was so much fun and I have the crafts now as memories. bluefin711@yahoo.com
ReplyDeletei was inspired by my grandmother. but it's hereditary I think! her mum did crochet, her mother in law knitted, my grandmother did pretty much every craft in existence, and my mother knits, sews, and embroiders!

ReplyDeleteMy son, not that he's aware of that, but I guess pregnancy hormones really took me over. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am a crafter since I was in the kindergarden - always loved to craft, never stopped, too. But of course I had different phases - window color phase, paper craft phase ... now i am totally into sewing. My mum sewed a lot for me as a baby and i totally would love to do this for my kids, when i have some. So i now learn to sew and then i can start making cloths as soon as i have kids :)

ReplyDeletei got into sewing via a friend who encouraged me to make a baby quilt when i got pregnant with my daughter. i worked on a bit while i was pregnant but didn't really catch the bug until my baby was six months old. that's when i finally finished the quilt & was like, "hold on...sewing is awesome!" & i haven't stopped since!
ReplyDeleteThere wasn't one specific person who inspired me but rather a group of people. My grandma with knitting, a family friend with sewing, and a sorority sister with scrapbooking and paper crafts. Such a fun question and giveaway thanks for the chance! blackflowersacidrain(at)gmail(dot)com
