candy sleighs

Last week at Bring 'n Brag, one of the ladies showed us how she made candy sleighs for Christmas gifts. update! The lady who showed us the sleighs is Lois. Thanks Lois! Joellen and I decided we needed to make our own!

They were fun to make. We made a dozen of them in about an hour and a half (plus wasted time driving around town looking for Christmas ribbon!) I think it was much easier doing them together so we had extra hands. One person to hold while the other one glues... especially for the first step! First you glue a kitkat bar to two candy canes to create the base. We used hot glue and ran a strip of glue down each candy cane.

Next, attach 10 mini hershey bars on top, with just a drop of glue for each. You stack them in a pyramid, first 4, then 3, then 2, then 1, like this:

After all the glue is hard and secure, glue ribbon around your "packages" and a bow on the top. That's it! so cute and fun and your recipient can keep it as a decoration or take it apart and eat all the candy!

some of our finished sleighs

I think you should all make some. Come on. You know you want to!

Too clever! Going to make for my book club members. They'll think I'm so talented!

How were you able to transport these?

It only took me about 5 minutes for each - I made two of them. And I used scotch tape instead of a glue gun because I want my recipients to be able to get them apart easily. I even stuck a gift card in the stack of "packages"!

Love your idea...I've made about 35 mainly for teachers and neighbour's. I cut a piece of cardboard and painted it with fake snow from my ceramics and wrapped them with Christmas cello and tied with a bow. Thx for sharing.

OMG, these look so cute! Found these on Pinterest and had to try and make these. My husband helped and we made two for our best friend's two kids (ages 11 and 3). We'll be giving them to the kids later today.

My husband took a picture of just the two sleds, then I took off an original Elf on a Shelf that we had on our Christmas tree and placed him in between both sleds. Perfect shot!

Thank you for sharing this project!
