dining gluten free in NYC

ok, first let's get this out of the way. On our trip to New York City, hubby and Ally (who do NOT have to eat gluten free) indulged in some extremely glutenous goodies. One night we went down to the hotel lobby (we stayed at the Marriott Marquis on Times Square, thanks to hubby's Marriott rewards points, what a treat!) On the menu were dessert sliders. Ally had strawberry shortcake sliders and hubby had the Boston cream pie sliders seen here...
I had a glass of wine... no glutenous treats for me! Another day, they wandered off to the Cake Boss bakery and brought back treats.....
The very first night we were there, we took Ally to our favorite NYC restaurant, Serafinas. They will make just about any dish on the menu gluten free for you. I enjoyed Spaghettini Alle Zucchine made with gluten free pasta....

On our last night in NYC we decided to try a new place. Trattoria Trecolori was right around the corner from our hotel. It had received rave reviews on some of the gluten free apps I was using so off we went....
We may just have a new favorite NYC restaurant! Like Serafinas, they will prepare most of their dishes gluten free. I had Pasta Primavera made with gluten free penne and it was awesome! The atmosphere at Trattoria Trecolori is wonderful, the service was amazing and all of our meals were top notch. We'll be back!

These are the highlights of our NYC dining. We ate at several national chains. Had a surprisingly delicious meal at Ruby Tuesdays, a horrifically overpriced breakfast buffet at Hard Rock and a disappointing (and way too expensive) meal at Applebees. What are your favorite places to eat in New York City?

Sorry, but who goes to NYC and eats in Applebees or Ruby Tuesdayss????

I'm a native and live here, and if asked, I wouldn't even be able to tell you where these restaurants are located.

(Just looked it up - funny, as I walk past there everyday but don't even "see" them).

Why anyone would spend money (or points) to visit NYC to eat in the same restaurants they have back home??????

Not saying you have to eat at Per Se, but most any corner diner or coffee shop would have offered up a better meal and more authentic NY experience (whatever that is) - for way less money.

Take a walk and venture at least a block or avenue AWAY from the tourist midtown area - you'd be amazed at the choices.

Sounds like it was a yummy trip! :>)

My favorites are Bubba Gumps (for dinner), Carnegie Deli (for breakfast), and Roxy Deli (for cheesecake) - I'm pretty sure none of these have gluten free menus & I don't even want to think about the calories ... but there's always all that walking, too! :>)
