learning to sew... almost finished with their quilts!

The girls came to sew again today. They are almost finished with their quilts! Today we made binding. The girls stitched the binding on by machine....

And learned to hand stitch the back (hand stitching proved to be the biggest challenge so far.)

And, as always, there was a fair amount of clowning around and laughing!
Soon I will be able to show you their finished quilts!

Awesome! It's so important that they learn some basic sewing skills. You've been generous with your time, Ellyn - all for a good cause!

Oh, they will be so thrilled when they finish their quilts. And the hand-sewing is the part I don't always like either. Most of my quilts - except the special ones - have totally machine-sewn binding. Just get 'r done, already, you know? Anyway, I'll be excited to see the finished quilts.
