It is, indeed, possible to slice through your cutting mat. Ask me how I know... go on, ask me. Because I managed to do just that! Apparently I frequently use the 10 inch line as my cutting line. Last week one day I sliced right through that 10 inch line. For the record my cutting mat was about 10 years old & had seen lots of wear. But still, this little event caught me off guard!
It was a good excuse to dig out a 50% off Joanns coupon and go on a field trip. Don't you worry, I'm all set now.
Pleased you got a nice new mat Ellyn but I am also surprised you did cut through your old one.

ReplyDeleteOh my - that's the exact cutting mat I have on my craft table! I use it more for lining things up than cutting, but I'll be sure to alternate where I cut.

ReplyDeleteI finally had to get a new cutting mat a couple of years ago for the same reason - only my "breakthrough" was at 2-1/2". After 20 years the durn thing came apart. Imagine. WH bought me a new one for some occasion or other - but I still like the old one better. Sometimes I get it out and turn it around and cut from the other end.... OCD? Maybe just a little...
